Ah so you are going to Taiwan? Why don’t you stay in Taipei for a while? Every traveller knows where is Taipei . It is in Taiwan, a country with lots of spots to visit! But for some of us Filipinos,when they heard Taipei,what first came to their mind are factories. Seriously, I hope to change that mindset.Well,here’s the 10 reasons you must visit and stay Taipei.
1. Dalongdong Baoan Temple
Also known as the Taipei Baoan Temple,this is a must see. A Taiwanese folk religion temple,it is located in Datong District and won the 2003 UNESCO Asia-Pacific Heritage Awards for Culture Heritage Conservation.
2. Taipei 101
Formerly known as Taipei World Financial Center and formerly having the fastest elevator and tallest building in the world for 2004 to 2008,with a unique design.It is located in Xinyi district and a must visit building in Taipei.
3. Elephant Mountain
Also known as Xiangshan,this mountain have a hiking trail. A good trail for those who wants to sweat,it is located in Xinyi District and just few minutes away from Taipei 101.Prepare to be exhausted by taking the 1000+ steps and may curse me for recommending it but you will thank me when you see the picturesque view from the top .Most postcard with a photo of Taipei 101 was taken from here,where you can see the whole city.
4. National Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall
Located in Zhongzheng District,this monument,surrounded by a park, was erected in memory of Chiang Kai-Shek, former President of the Republic of China.Be mesmerized and enjoy the culture by watching the guards mounting ceremony every hour.Don’t forget to walk below the hall,there’s a museum and library under there.
5. National Palace Museum
Originally established in 1925, this museum in Shilin is where all the Chinese artifacts are stored.
The museum has accumulated nearly 700,000 artifacts with historical and artistic values,and only 1% of the collection is exhibited. The rest of the collection is stored in temperature controlled vaults.
6. Hot spring,and more hot spring.
The best location for a hot spring escapade is in Beitou area and if you don’t want to spend even one cent for entrance fees,why don’t you try the free foot hot spring in Quanyuan Park Foot Bath? This place is really not known to tourist (unlike Fuxing Park Foot Bath),and not crowded.
7. National Taiwan University
Also known as Ying De University for Meteor Garden ( a drama TV-series )fans.
This university is located in Da’an District.
8. Yangmingshan Park
This park is beautiful throughout the year. But I must say it’s undeniably gorgeous in spring season, where cherry blossom blooms everywhere.
9. Food trip
No need to explain this. Taipei got lot of food stalls where you can snack anytime you want.
10. Thermal Valley
Last but not the least,this crater-lake filled with natural green sulfur hot spring water is located in Beitou.
The composition of the sulfur water can only be found in two places in the world, only in Beitou,Taipei here in Taiwan and in Akita, Japan.
